General Membership Meeting Minutes--Thursday, April 13, 2023, 7:00pm via Zoom

Call to Order: Chair Tim Scott called the meeting to order at 7:00pm and welcomed members.

Introduction of Officers and recognition of Executive Committee: Tim recognized Jen Brehm’s work on the website, Carole DeWall’s work on turf cutting for canvassing, and Tom DeWall’s work on Letters to the Editor.

Primary Updates

·      School Board —The April 12th Citizens for Carlisle Schools’ fundraiser at The Ribbon Mill was a well-attended and successful event. Jerry Eby was chosen to be part of the Citizens’ group because he shares the values of the other four members.

·      Borough Council — The candidates are uncontested, so should be easily elected/re-elected.

·      Commissioners — Jean Foschi and John Smith are the CADC suggested candidates.

·      Statewide Judicials —Jill Beck, Pat Dugan, and Timika Lane are the PA Superior Court Democratic candidates; two of them will advance to the General Election.

·      Commonwealth Court — The state party chose not to endorse either candidate (Bryan Neft or Matt Wolf).

Volunteer Opportunities

·      School Board race — Volunteers needed for canvassing, writing postcards, yard signs, and to complete pledges to vote.

·      Handouts at polls — To be designed by Stephanie, printed at HQ, and distributed to PCPs by the week before the election so that they can be distributed at polls.

·      Fundraising Committee — Can use assistance with events; interested people should contact Julie.

·      Strategic Messaging Committee — Can use assistance with planning for the year; interested people should contact Tim or Julie.

For the Good of the Order

·      Joe Shane recognized Jill Bartoli for her LTE advocating for the state of public schools.

·      Julie and Tim acknowledged John Sigle’s LTE as well.

·      Carole asked about a fundraising letter; the Fundraising Committee will finalize the drafted letter and get it sent out.

·      Donna mentioned that the final mailing list/cost for the postcards was smaller than expected.

·      Polling place table covers were purchased and will be in PCPs’ packets.

·      Google Docs will be the collection site for all relevant CADC documents.
