General Membership meeting Minutes—September 7, 2022, 7:00pm via Zoom
Committee Updates
· Finance—Donna reported that at the end of August, we had $13,280. Including Barn Party contributions, now have approximately $14,500 and 83+ people are planning to attend.
· Events—Julie reported that the Barn Party will be held this Saturday and hosted by Karen Wronski at 244 Burnt House Road, Carlisle from 6:30 to 8:30-9:00pm. Candidate Alan Howe, a representative for Shamaine Daniels, a representative for Jim Massey, and Jean Foschi, representing Josh Shapiro will attend. · Volunteers—Kate thanked all who responded to the survey and updated their information. Postcard signings to take place during 2nd half of month—volunteers will be able to pick up packets or attend signing party planned for Sept. 24/25. Postcard mailing date by Oct. 1. In October, volunteers will focus on canvassing and literature drops. Contact Kate at kate.theimer@gmail.com.
· PCPs—Carole expressed the need for additional PCPs and volunteers to assist with doorhanger distribution and other efforts, particularly in Mt. Holly Borough, North Middleton Township, and Dickinson Township. Contact Carole with questions or to help at carolesdw@gmail.com.
· Staffing HQ—Paula mentioned that HQ is currently staffed on Wednesday afternoons to evenings, and on Mondays and Saturdays. If interested in volunteering to help with this, contact her at bussardp2022@comcast.net or Matt Roan, CCDC Chair for a link to the online signup. There are Shapiro signs available, some Fetterman signs, awaiting Daniels signs, and Howe and Massey signs are limited; Carole will send sign-related information to PCPs.
· Elections—Paula reported that the open positions in 2023 will include County Commissioners and Treasurer, Borough Council and Township Supervisors, five seats on the school board, and statewide—2 judicial races. For the Primary, the R. General Assembly may attempt to run their Constitutional Amendments.
· She’s following up with Kate’s survey respondents and will be working on the countywide positions.
· Tim mentioned that Republicans will try to push Constitutional Amendments through in Jan./Feb. so that they’re on the May ballot.
All In PA—James Griffith, Cumberland, Perry, Snyder, Juniata Field Organizer, talked about the importance of focusing on canvassing—1 in 14 interactions yields a new vote.
· Launching new canvasses in Carlisle and Camp Hill; talk to him about setting up a new canvass.
· In the persuasion phase now; talking to Ds, Is, and persuadable Rs
· 17th and 18th—Weekend of Action; plan to knock on 1 million+ doors statewide, 3000 in Cumberland County.
· Tom asked: Can we cut our own turfs and do you have a script?
o James: Can work together on coordinating turf-cutting and script will be available on Minivan.
Candidates
· Jerrod Eckert (on behalf of Shamaine Daniels)
o Fighting for families’ and women’s rights, codifying abortion rights at federal and state levels, marriage equality, improving infrastructure, curbing inflation, fixing the immigration system.
o Shamaine will appear or have a representative at the Barn Party

o Karl encouraged individuals—rather than organized groups—to donate to Shamaine’s campaign
o Rick Coplen hosting (along with Tim, Jean) a fundraiser for Shamaine on Oct. 3. $250 to be a co-host. Contact him at Rickcoplen@gmail.com.
· Jim Massey (for PA 34th)
o Running on quality of life issues—infrastructure, medical and mental health care—addressing opioid crisis and rural issues, abortion rights. Wants to unite people and personally connect with voters.
· Alan Howe (PA 199th)—Campaign updates:
o Handwritten postcards targeting 5100 R women—“don’t vote for candidates who will treat you like second-class citizens/take away your right to choose.” Packs of 30 postcards with or without postage can be picked up—contact volunteers@alan4pa.com. (Website to launch soon.)
o Will be recording a 30-second radio ad that will start airing next week.
o Strategy is to pull Rs away from R candidates and if possible, toward D candidates.
o Alan will be door-knocking soon and handing out literature and postcards at the Barn Party.
