A note about Cross Filing:

It’s hard to imagine today, but more than 50 years ago everyone agreed that some parts of government were too important for political partisanship: the administration of justice and the education of our children.

To underscore that point, the law allows candidates for county judge and school board to “cross-file.” That is, they can place their names on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.

That’s the case this year for the Carlisle school board. There are four seats up for election, and there are four candidates. Two are Democrats, and two are Republicans.

Citizens for Carlisle Schools (CCS) is a non-partisan, non-profit that works to keep politics and culture wars out of Carlisle’s school board elections. CCS has endorsed all four candidates as people who, regardless of party, will put learning ahead of ideology.

While voters can vote for all four candidates, they also can choose not to vote for some candidates if, for whatever reason, they do not want to vote for a Republican, for example.
